The problem of the unbundling of the Telecom fixed network and of the possible creation of a network company open to all telecommunications operators remains more than ever on the economic, financial and political scene. In an extensive interview with "Il Sole 24 Ore" the Minister of the Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan sends a very clear message on the matter.
"Regardless of the owners - Padoan claims - in terms of principle, the separation between infrastructures and operators is a solution that can give efficiency". And then the minister significantly adds that the separation "can be achieved in various ways" and that "the discussion must be linked to the strategic objective of providing Italy with ICT capital adequate for the challenges of an advanced country".
The message to Vivendi is clear, even if Padoan takes care to underline that foreign investments in Italy are welcome, even if respect for the rules must apply and our country has every right to defend its national interest in the face of strategic assets .
