Renzi on Tempa Rossa: "If it is a crime to unlock works, I have committed it"

"Either Italy recovers the possibility of making investments that have been blocked for years or it will not come out of the prefix growth rates", this is one of the Premier's declarations to the PD Directorate - Su Tempa Rossa Renzi asks for a speedy process.

Renzi on Tempa Rossa: "If it is a crime to unlock works, I have committed it"

An all-round Matteo Renzi today in front of the PD management. As Premier, but also as national secretary of the party, the head of government did not spare himself, expressing himself on all the most important political economic issues at national and international level. From the Guidi case to the US primaries, passing through the need to unblock national public and private works and the Libyan chaos.

On the economic scenario, the Prime Minister speaks of unexpected dynamics: “There are surprising scenarios: the collapse in oil prices has blocked the development of some African countries that were growing. Trudeau's Canada is a possible alternative to the clichés of the Harper government." Returning to the Old Continent, Renzi stated: “This scenario makes the European scenario more difficult. The European ideal is in crisis, the European left is in crisis if walls are built. The PSE needs to be a leader in the reconstruction of Europe. Italy is giving answers in a positive and organic way. We respond with our hierarchy of values, which are expressed in a certain model of security. The problem is solved by controlling the outskirts of the city, not with barriers.”

Then a reference to the Libyan chaos: “On Libya we need an organic project compared to the mere reaction, which has already caused damage in 2011. Italy brings its non-compliant voice to the chorus.”

According to the Premier, the structural reforms carried out in recent years have brought the longed-for stability, a conquest that we are now recognized on an international level: “Italy provides a model of governance. Thanks to the reforms, Italy brings its voice. You can be on the left to lower taxes for the middle class and entrepreneurs who are looking for work and invest in the company and to insist on a policy of public and private investment."

Matteo Renzi, however, underlined the need to focus on investments: “If there is no relaunch of investments and the recovery of household purchasing power, the ECB's monetary policy is not enough. We are bringing the PES along this line, this is our goal. The measure of 80 euros in Italy - underlined the Prime Minister - is an attempt to give support to families who earn less".

The secretary of the PD warns against the populist right: “Out of here is Trump and a right that for the first time is contaminated with forms of populism who are beyond the Tea Party. In May in Rome there will be an initiative, a meeting agreed in Paris, to bring the left to be a protagonist in Europe.

Returning to investments, Renzi is peremptory: “Either public and private investments are unblocked in Italy or there is no exit from growth at telephone prefix rates. A complicated mechanism has been created in which everyone who can block something blocks it. Only in Italy do lawyers work more than unskilled workers for public works. Seven years ago Italy invested 7 billion euros in public works, today 40. Then we ask ourselves why we are growing less than others. The key point – clarified the Premier – is that unblocking public and private works is the priority of this executive. We must be careful not to become dodgy of lobbies. Multinationals have over 20 subsidiaries”.

Renzi then referred to the political case of the week, namely the resignation of the Minister of Economic Development following some wiretaps on the plant in Tempa Rossa: "The Government has unblocked a work blocked since 1989. The scandal is not that the amendment was approved but that opportunities were lost for 27 years. If you have something to ask, ask me. Let it go to trial."

“I ask the Italian judiciary not only to investigate as quickly as possible but to reach a sentence. There are investigations by the judiciary in Potenza with the cadence of the Olympics ", every four years, " and a sentence has never been reached. A civilized country is a country that is going to sentence”.

On the referendum on drilling to be held on April 17, the head of the Executive declared: «Let there be the intellectual honesty to recognize that the position of abstention from a referendum that has a quorum is a sacrosanct and legitimate position. Not recognizing it is wrong and profoundly unfair "Those who think it is a waste to block drilling at the end of the license, as I think, it is right to vote no, those who don't think it is right to vote yes".

Then reference to the banks: “We fought on the popular ones. Previous governments have failed to change the popular system. Thanks to Parliament, we succeeded. I am proud of the popular reform”.

Finally Renzi addressed the PD minority showing his appreciation to the party for not having accepted the proposal of Forza Italia and the 5 Star Movement to vote in favor of the no confidence that the opposition will present in the Guidi case, also defending his full morality and his conception of politics as a service.
