“Budget law approved. At 19 the formal resignation. Renzi tonight at Colle for his resignation

The formal resignation of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi arrives earlier than expected, and that is on the same day as the definitive approval of the maneuver and of the Direction of the Democratic Party: “The 2017 Budget law was also approved by the Senate. I think it's an excellent law and I invite you to see the slides we prepared a month ago when it was approved by the Council of Ministers. Tonight at 19 pm I will be at the Quirinale to formalize my resignation as President of the Council of Ministers. They have been a thousand extraordinary days, thanks to everyone and long live Italy", tweeted the prime minister, who therefore in the evening, immediately after the conclusion of the Democratic Party leadership (for which no debate is foreseen), will go to the Colle by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

Renzi asks (the Colle and the Pd) to decide between a government of national responsibility (therefore with the opposition) and the vote soon. A solution, the latter, which does not entirely convince Mattarella, who would first like to wait for the pronouncement of the Consulta on the Italicum and possibly opt for a government of purpose that can prepare a new homogeneous law for the two Chambers. Consultations with the President of the Republic will begin in the next few days.
