Renzi writes to Conte: "We want content, not just get by"

A few hours after the summit with the premier, the leader of Italia Viva publishes the letter he sent Wednesday evening to Palazzo Chigi on Facebook. From the Recovery Plan to the task force to implement it, from the Mes to the secret services, here are all the issues on the table

Renzi writes to Conte: "We want content, not just get by"

The government meeting between Matteo Renzi and Giuseppe Conte, from postponement to postponement, is now set for 18 pm on Thursday afternoon. With a lot of irons in the fire: from the Mes to the Recovery Plan, the leader of Italia Viva and the Prime Minister will also talk about the Christmas decree. A few hours after the meeting, Renzi published his Facebook profile the letter he sent to the premier on Wednesday evening, in which he sets out the essential points claimed by Italia Viva in view of the meeting

“For total transparency, I paste here the letter I sent yesterday to the Prime Minister. Very long, I know. But at least you understand that let's talk about serious things, not about reshuffles. Good day".

“Dear president, these days the story told by the Palace says that “those of Italia Viva” want seats. It is populism applied to communication. But above all it is a big lie,” reads the letter. “We, President, want to lend a hand on the contents. Because ideas are under discussion, not government jobs. Teresa, Elena, Ivan – who have worked well on agriculture, families and gender policies, exports – are ready to resign tomorrow if necessary. Indeed, we do not conceive politics as the occupation of posts. We are not trying to live, we want to change. A folding seat is not enough for us, we want politics”.

Renzi asks questions about what happened to the Schock Plan for infrastructure as well as the Report drawn up by the Colao commission, of which traces have been lost. And he reiterates that he does not share the approach to the Next Generation Eu (the European recovery plan) with 209 billion for Italy, 72 of which are non-refundable.

“The rest are loans, and therefore equivalent to borrowed resources. Albeit with two differences: they will cost less than our traditional debt and the relationship with private investors is mediated by the EU budget. What is the point of spending 88 of the 127 billion in European loans just to finance projects that already exist? Do we have a vision or have we just emptied the drawers of the ministries with the old proposals? Do we think we have no good ideas to cultivate today? What happened to Colao's documents that you had involved with great media coverage?”

The letter touches on all the "hot" topics from the Mes, to the Delegated Authority for the secret services, to electoral reform. With the conclusion: "We want to talk about these topics and we are ready to discuss these topics".
