On the reopening of the Italy viaduct on the A3, the premier returns to the theme of infrastructure: “They are useful and must be done, so we can get out of the crisis. Renzi: Salerno-Reggio ready on 22 December

“They laughed at us when we said that on December 22 we would travel from Salerno to Reggio Calabria: that day we will have the entire infrastructure ready without any restrictions. It will be finished, Italy keeps its commitments”. Matteo Renzi once again confirms that there will be no delays, that the Salerno-Reggio line will be completed within the announced times, on the occasion of the reopening of the Italy viaduct. The ceremony was also attended by Minister Graziano Delrio and Anas President Gianni Vittorio Armani.

"I say this to the national press and in particular to the international press", who had joked about this target, "the time in which people smile at Italy is over", he added. Renzi announced that to celebrate the event on December 22, alongside Transport Minister Graziano Delrio, he himself will drive from Salerno to Reggio Calabria, the escort will follow.

The occasion was useful to give Renzi the opportunity to return to the theme of infrastructure. "A certain technocratic culture - he said - has in fact blocked public investments in Italy and instead "useful ones and not useless ones must be made, certainly fighting corruption, but public investments must be made because a country that does not make them cut off the legs yourself.” “Infrastructures – he continued – are the means by which we emerge from the crisis”.

The Italy viaduct, renovated and reopened, is one of the largest Italian bridges with an all-metal girder and is built on the territories of the municipalities of Laino Borgo (CS) and Laino Castello (CS). The collapse of one of the spans of the southern carriageway in 2015 cost the death of the worker of Romanian origin Adrian Miholca.
