Coup de scene on the Jubilee in the midst of the storm over the capital Rome. To get out of the corner, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is determined to commission the Jubilee by entrusting the powers of Mayor Ignazio Marino to the prefect of Rome, Franco Gabrielli.
It is not a reversal of the line supported so far by Renzi and the Pd in support of Marino but it is certainly a glaring correction, both to take pressure off Marino, who alone cannot face every emergency, and to send a strong signal from Palazzo Chigi.
The matter was discussed yesterday at the meeting of the Council of Ministers but the next meeting will approve the relative decree of receivership of the Jubilee which will begin in the capital on December 8 and end in November 2016.
From what is known, however, it does not seem that Mayor Marino has taken it well, even if. as "la Repubblica" who made the scoop recounts, his relations with Gabrielli are excellent. But, as the Pd commissioner in Rome, Matteo Orfini, recalled, every shadow on the capital must be erased and strong decisions must be made.
The 500 million promised to Rome by the government should arrive together with the decree of commissioning the capital.
