Renzi presses Lupi for his resignation but does not want clashes in the majority

"Dear Maurizio, if I were you I would resign“. These are the words with which the premier yesterday Matteo Renzi addressed the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Maurizio Lupi, to induce him to resign after the storm that unleashed on the ministry following the arrest with the accusation of corruption on the large contracts for the Tav and the Expo of the superbureaucrat Ercole Incalza.

Renzi uses moral suasion but his line is very clear, because he has no intention of letting shadows cloud the government's battle against corruption.

At the same time, however, Renzi does not want to upset the majority and is careful to avoid clashes. In this sense, yesterday evening he listened to Lupi's party secretary, Ncd, Angelino Alfano, who obviously defended Lupi by saying that a formal notice from the minister would upset the balance of government.

The case, however, remains more open than ever, especially after that M5S e Salt presented in Parliament a motion of no confidence against Lupi, which will have to be discussed in the next few days.
