“We want to carry out a very tiring and very difficult experiment, claiming a totally different method from the past. Do the others launch the most absurd proposals? We propose 100 small steps forward for Italy. A hundred small concrete and achievable things. But we do it starting from 100 things we've done. Before talking about new reforms, you need to have the courage to say what you have actually done. For 100 steps forward that we want to take, there will be 100 things we have done, that we have achieved”. With these words, the secretary of the Democratic Party, Matteo Renzi, today opened the conference for the presentation of the Democratic Party programme, organized at the Golinelli factory in Bologna.
VACCINES STAY OUT OF THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN
“Even this morning we listened to a hallucinating debate on vaccines – continued Renzi – One of the leaders of the opposing camp, Matteo Salvini, in a strange correspondence of amorous senses with the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, questioned a law on vaccines that should stay out of the electoral campaign. To those who tell us that we are the first to talk about it, we offer a pact: we stop talking about vaccines in the electoral campaign, but in exchange you stop talking nonsense about the mandatory nature of vaccines ”.
CITIZENSHIP INCOME IS AN INCENTIVE TO RESIGN
In reference to the controversy over Amazon's patented bracelets to control the workers, the dem secretary responded to the accusations launched by the leader of the M5S, Luigi Di Maio: “Someone has attributed certain choices of a large multinational to the Jobs Act – said Renzi – The Jobs Act is blamed for everything. It seems that the political debate is centered on non-concrete issues. We want to go back to pragmatism. We remember the risk of falling back into the tunnel of the spread. We will not shoot at random figures, such as the 100 billion for the citizen's income. We have introduced hiring incentives, while the citizen's income, which would give 1.600 euros a month to anyone with two children even if they do nothing, would be an incentive to quit".
FLAT TAX: WHY LOWER TAXES FOR THE RICH AND NOT THE POOR?
Finally, the dem secretary also launched a thrust against the center-right, and in particular against the flagship measure of the delayed Froza Italia programme: "On the other hand, there are those who speak of a flat tax - recalled Renzi - But why should we lower taxes to those who earn a lot of money and not to those who struggle to make ends meet?”.
REI, PLAN FOR NON SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY
In terms of interventions, one of the drafters of the programme, Tommaso Nannicini, spoke of the need to "heal generational, social and gender fractures" with an action "of reforms and interventions that allow us to remain as protagonists in Europe".
In particular, in terms of social policies, the Democratic Party proposes a plan for non-self-sufficiency "for a long-term view against the aging of the population", a structural intervention to combat poverty, the doubling of resources for income inclusion .
EXTENSION OF THE 80 EUROS
As regards the fiscal chapter, the program plans to increase support for the poorest families and to allocate 10 billion to extend the 80 euros to families with children. It would be a universal allowance that would cover all families, regardless of income and work.
UNIVERSAL MINIMUM WAGE AND TAX CUT
On the labor front, Nannicini relaunched the challenge of the "universal minimum wage", but also underlined the need to "strengthen the guarantee function of collective bargaining". One of the qualifying points of the program envisages structurally reducing the cost of labor in a stable manner (4 points in 4 years), reducing the wedge from 33 to 29%.
GUARANTEE PENSION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Another central question is that which concerns the guarantee pension for young people, because "those who are in the contributory system must have the certainty of a check based on the years of contributions".
