Renzi in the Senate on the Thousand Days: "Either the reforms or the early elections"

Illustrating the Thousand Days, the Premier was very clear in Parliament, warning that either reforms are made or the only solution remains recourse to early elections, naturally after the approval of the new electoral law, Napolitano permitting - Not by chance Renzi has asked the Senate to give precedence to the Italicum

Renzi in the Senate on the Thousand Days: "Either the reforms or the early elections"

“We are not afraid of the vote. We are not afraid to confront the Italians. But Italy needs a wider-ranging challenge today. We need a new electoral law immediately, but not to go to the elections”. This was stated by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, illustrating the thousand-day program in front of the Senate, after doing the same this morning in the Chamber.

“Someone may argue that going to vote would be better – he added – We respect the position taken and from a utilitarian point of view it might be a good idea but we think that the interests of the country come before the needs of a party. Any assessment of the electoral passage must disregard a reasoning that concerns a single party. If the Parliament is in a position to put it in the right gear and carry out the reforms, we undertake to assume a legislative horizon and not a limited horizon, going to vote in 2018".
