Renzi: on December 22, off to Salerno-Reggio

The prime minister celebrates two years since the start of government activity with the announcement that on 22 December the most controversial motorway in Italian history will be completed and inaugurated. Visits

“Let me do a progress commercial. How impossible it seemed to complete the pass variant, I know you won't believe it, but on 22 December we will inaugurate the Salerno-Reggio Calabria“. Matteo Renzi celebrates two years in front of the foreign press in Rome and announces that the thirty-year work to complete the motorway (and substantially rebuild the route) will be completed by the end of the year.

It is not the only announcement during the press conference with which the premier celebrated the first two years of government. “We are halfway there – he said – the elections will take place in 2018”. “Italy is there and it's strong but there's still a lot to do – he continued – and I'm still hungry from the first day. Being prime minister in Italy isn't easy, it has an amazing past but it's a fascinating experience. I can say that the future has returned home to this country”, adds Renzi, claiming the results of two years of government.

Europe, the United States, foreign policy: the premier touched all the points and announced his agenda starting from the USA: "We will be at the summit promoted by Obama on nuclear power held in Washington in March. An issue on which Italy has the cards to spend both in political and industrial terms for disposal", the premier officially announced. The summit will be held on March 30 and 31, but "before that date we will perhaps be in Nevada, Illinois and Massachusetts for a mission", he specified. As for the upcoming US elections, Renzi supports Clinton: “As Prime Minister I say that we will work with whoever the US president will be, obviously. As secretary of the Democratic Party in respect of US democracy, I support Hillary Clinton”.

After receiving President Rohani in Rome, Matteo Renzi will be in Iran in the spring: “I will be in Tehran in April. At the table in Geneva on Iran - Renzi recalled - Italy was not there because my predecessors chose not to be there, which sounds extravagant if we consider the historical relations between Italy and Iran". Finally the Russia: "On June 18 I will be in St. Petersburg at Putin's invitation, whom I already met in the Kremlin in March 2015", concluded the premier who in the morning, on his Facebook profile, had asked for advice from Italians on the most urgent reforms to be implemented in the next two years, from now to the elections:

Good morning. Here you can find #twenty-four slides on the first #twenty-four months of government. We are halfway there, there are…
