Renzi and Serra launch the Algebris Policy & Research Forum

Davide Serra, Nicholas Clegg and Matteo Renzi launch the Algebris Policy & Research Forum and publish the first policy & research paper The Eurozone: A Positive but Unequal Game.

The Forum is a non-profit think tank, “born with the aim of promoting and encouraging a strong and balanced economy in Europe – reads a note – on the basis of a solid financial system supported by a transparent regulatory and fiscal environment for the benefit of societies as a whole, sharing knowledge and expert research with the public, governmental and non-governmental bodies”.

The Forum will publish reports and recommendations on financial topics addressing global economic and political stability including European integration, political issues (e.g. immigration and trade policies), macroeconomic trends (e.g. wage stagnation and income), digital services and tax policies.

The Forum is independent of the trading activities of Algebris (UK) Limited. The current members of the Forum, established during the summer, are Nicholas Clegg, elected President, Matteo Renzi and Davide Serra. Other potential candidates are currently on the shortlist. By the end of the year, the Forum should have five members.

The first document of the Forum, The Eurozone: A Positive but Unequal Game, has been published on the Algebris website. The report analyzes in detail the economic benefits that the Eurozone has so far brought to its members and evaluates the costs of leaving a sample of countries (Germany, France, Spain and Italy).
