Renzi, self-criticism on the referendum

The prime minister defends the reasons for the Yes but acknowledges that he was wrong in personalizing the popular consultation on the constitutional reform, born "under the banner of Giorgio Napolitano".

Renzi, self-criticism on the referendum

Matteo Renzi vigorously defends the reasons for the Yes on the constitutional reform but makes self-criticism on the referendum on the Unity Day in the Modena area: "I was wrong to personalize it, but only Fonzie is never wrong". From now on the debate on the merits of the reform will have to prevail which, the President points out, was born "under the sign of Giorgio Napolitano" and makes it possible to simplify the decision-making process, to cut the costs of politics, to eliminate useless bodies and redefine the relations between the State and the Regions for the benefit of clarity and the interests of the national community.

After asking for applause from the audience for Silvio Berlusconi's health and for Romano Prodi's birthday, Renzi attacked the Pd minority ("You can't have a congress every day") and reiterated that the left has finished with the Bertinotti syndrome which, demanding more and more in words, brought down the first Prodi government and then led Sel to electoral defeat.
