Renzi at the Pd Assembly: "In 2016, the tax on first homes will go away"

Next year Italy will say goodbye to the tax on first homes. It is the promise announced by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi at the assembly of the Democratic Party at the Milan Expo where he anticipated a "Copernican revolution" and an unprecedented reduction in taxes in five years. However, unlike the others, Renzi added to Berlusconi, "we don't just promise tax cuts, but we do them as we have seen with the 80 euros to the weakest workers".

After the abolition of the tax on first homes and the agricultural Imu and on bolted workers, in 2017 the Government will intervene on Ires and Irap to reduce them and finally in 2018 there will be interventions in favor of workers on the income tax brackets and on pensions.

HOUSE AND IRPEF

The three-year package proposed by Renzi is worth about 45 billion: five billion is the reduction planned in 2016 to abolish taxes on first homes, or what is left of the Imu (later transformed in part into Tasi which incorporates the indivisible municipal services and waste disposal) and then the Imu on agricultural land and the absurd levy on bolted machinery. Since 2017, the bill has risen to 20 billion to further reduce IRES and IRAP (compared to what was already decided in 2015), plus another 20 billion in 2018, when the prime minister's plans will also have to put a hand on the Irpef rates.

Going into more detail, according to some government sources reported by Ansa, abolishing taxes on the main residence will mean dealing with a loss of collection of around 3,5 billion euros. In fact, according to data referring to 2014 from the Department of Finance, the revenue from first home due to the Imu (payable only on luxury and extra-luxury homes) and to the Tasi amounted to this much last year. If the revenue from the agricultural IMU is added to the taxation on the first home, the bill for the public budget rises to over 4 billion. Based on Finance data, the 2014 collection from the Imu on land amounted to 550 million euros, while 39 million euros came in from the Imu and Tasi on rural buildings.

INVESTMENTS AND REFORMS

In addition to the tax cut, which will be the Renzi government's compass until the general elections but in compliance with European parameters and without increasing public debt, the prime minister also said that investments and infrastructures will be the other priorities of the executive. The government intends to allocate 20 billion "that already exist" to this intervention.

At the parliamentary level, the first objective of the Government is to obtain the definitive approval of the reform of the Pa ento on 7 August and in September the yes of Palazzo Madama to the reform of the Senate before the new Stability law.

Another highlight of the Renzi government will be the battle over civil rights with the approval of the new law on civil unions in the autumn.

"The country has restarted and is no longer the laughing stock of Europe but a pillar - said Renzi - but now we need a qualitative leap" against the tribe of long faces (the dem minority) and against the defeatists who are represented by the Movimento 5 Stelle, from the radical left and from Salvini's League. "The real opponent - added Renzi - is fear".
