Prime Minister Viktor Orban says that "Renzi has every reason to be nervous", but the Italian premier insists: "Either Hungary respects the pacts on migrants, or we will veto the EU budget"

Renzi to Orban: we are not a piggy bank

Tensions rise between Rome and Budapest. After the warning from Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who in recent days had threatened to veto the EU budget if all countries did not respect the commitments on the quotas of migrants to welcome, today the Hungarian prime minister launched a dig at the Italy.

“Italian internal politics are difficult terrain. - He said Viktor Orban to the microphones of Radio Mr – Italy has budgetary difficulties with a growing deficit, while migrants are arriving en masse, with huge expenses. Renzi has every reason to be nervous."

Soon it arrived the response of the Italian Prime Minister: “Orban has a non-punctual vision of Italy – Renzi replied -. In other words, it is not true that the deficit is increasing, it is not true that Italy is in difficulty or that there is nervousness”.

And again: “Either Europe takes note of the provisions that the EU itself has signed – Renzi reiterated – and therefore Hungary too begins to take charge of the migrants, or do you know what? The Italian Prime Minister officially communicates that he will veto any budget that does not include equal charges and honors ”.

Because Italy “is no longer the piggy bank from which one comes to ask for money without providing for equal rights and duties – concluded Renzi -. We have hit the mark, I notice a certain concern in the friends of the Eastern countries, but the time in which Italy was the piggy bank is over. It applies to Orban and to all the other EU colleagues”.
