Renzi in Naples for Bagnoli, clashes in the city

Tensions in Naples in view of the premier's visit Matteo Renzi, which in the afternoon participates in the Campania capital in the fifth meeting of the control room on Bagnoli, which will be held in the Prefecture: a fundamental meeting to launch the plan to relaunch the former Italsider industrial area.

Over two thousand people are demonstrating in the streets of the centre: in particular on the seafront of via Caracciolo, where a guerrilla climate is registered at the beginning of the afternoon, with throwing stones and firecrackers against the police who responded with tear gas, water cannons and charges. A part of the procession instead continued peacefully in other areas of the city.

"The control room is not a place where you embrace each other, but it is a place where a murky bond is created between the presumed public interest and well-identified private interest": with these words the mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris, replies to the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, who yesterday said he was ready "to welcome the mayor of Naples with open arms" should he show up at the meeting in the Prefecture.
