The Dieselgate scandal, which broke out just last summer at Volkswagen, could also overwhelm the French Renault. According to the Financial Times, a study prepared by the French government - which owns about 20% of the automaker - would have omitted significant details on how the group's diesel vehicles would have reduced gas emissions.

The document, published last month, found that some Renault vehicles emitted nitrogen oxides (Nox, a gas that causes respiratory diseases) 9 to 11 times higher than the limits set by EU laws.

Furthermore, the report would not mention all the details of the investigation, including the fact that the NOx trap device, which traps nitrogen oxides, in the Renault Captur sports car would have overloaded during tests but not on the road, identical situation to the one that had alerted US investigators about Volkswagen.

The share on the Paris market was negative (-1,45%).
