United Kingdom, GDP down in the fourth quarter: -0,2%

As already noted by the preliminary findings, the British gross domestic product recorded a decline in the last part of 2011 – The negative result comes despite a growth in consumer spending and a strong progress in exports.

UK GDP data confirmed: the fourth quarter of 2011, as revealed by the preliminary result released a few weeks ago, recorded a drop in gross domestic product of 0,2%.

The British economy has therefore suffered a contraction in the last three months of the past year despite a growth in consumer spending and strong export progress.

The Ons (Office for National Statistics) communicated the GDP statistics, which also revised (downwards) the figure on an annual basis: +0,7% instead of +0,8%.
