Regionals: Lega wins hands down in Lombardy, Zingaretti is saved in Lazio

The results of the vote in Lazio and Lombardy more or less confirm the national trend: in Lombardy the Lega wins hands down, in Lazio the Pd is saved but the 5 Star Movement with Roberta Lombardi achieves a great result. Center-right around 30%, but with Pirozzi's independent list at 6%.

Regionals: Lega wins hands down in Lombardy, Zingaretti is saved in Lazio

After counting the votes for House and Senate, which highlighted a good result for the center-right and M5S and a great disappointment for the Democratic Party, it is up to the counting of the regional elections. Voting took place in the two most important Italian regions, Lazio and Lombardy, and the first results speak of opposing outcomes, even if they confirm the national trend of a difficulty for the Democratic Party in the face of a strong rise of the centre-right and the 5 Star Movement.

In fact, in and around Rome the center-left, with the president, held firm Nicola Zingaretti which, however, barely overcomes the competition from Stefano Parisi (centre-right) and Roberta Lombardi (5 Stars) and is reconfirmed, albeit with a minimal advantage. In 2013 Zingaretti had an almost plebiscitary consensus, with 40 percent and more, while this time - according to partial data - only one voter out of three confirmed his trust in the outgoing president who would have reached 31,6% of the votes. Stable at around 29,5% for the centre-right, at 29% for the candidate Lombardi, who represents the toughest wing of the 5 Star Movement.

The good performance of the former mayor of Amatrice Sergio Pirozzi, who takes home almost 5% with his list, increases the regrets of the centre-right. A loot that would have been useful for the coalition led by the former candidate for mayor of Milan, who thus once again emerges defeated in a local electoral challenge. It should be emphasized that, despite the probable victory, it is not said that Zingaretti will be able to obtain the majority in the council. According to the regional law, 40 seats will be assigned proportionally, the other 10 seats will be divided among the provincial lists that support the governor-elect. But given the short distance between the three candidates, it is said that the "prize" is not enough to win an absolute majority.

However, the mayor of Bergamo does not make it Giorgio gori, which in Lombardy seemed to be able to curb the excessive power of the League, which for the aftermath of Maroni has nominated the mayor of Varese Attilio Fontana, exponent of the first hour of the League. According to still provisional data, the gap between the two would also be very large, over ten percentage points. In third place was the candidate of the Movimento 5 Stelle, Dario Violi, while Liberi e Uguali did worse than the national result, stopping at just over 2% of the preferences.
