Tempers are heating up and divisions in the Democratic Party are strengthening over the referendum on constitutional reform, on which a very heated party leadership will be held tomorrow. On the eve of the former party secretary, Pierluigi Bersani, announced that he will vote NO in the referendum because the Italicum has not been corrected, on which however Renzi had declared his willingness to improve it. Mail NO from Bersani and the dem minority was expected, being all political and evidently prejudicial in an anti-Renzian key.
The premier's response to Bersani was not long in coming: "I - declared Renzi - made a mistake" in initially personalizing the outcome of the referendum, "but when one votes out of dislike, one shows little vision of the country" recalling that "Bersani has voted YES three times to the constitutional reform” knowing full well that the electoral law was the Italicum and “if now he changes his mind about the referendum, everyone will make up his own mind”.
The judgment on Bersani's somersaults also by Minister Franceschini is harsh: "Bersani splits the party with his NO". Tomorrow there will be sparks in the Directorate.
