Two hundred boxes with 1.210.466 signatures inside. This is the extraordinary load delivered today to the Cassation by the referendum committee for the abolition of the current electoral law. A very rapid plebiscite in favor of this protest movement, which in just two months managed to mobilize an unexpected number of citizens against the Porcellum (at the time the system was called "dirty" by its creator, Roberto Calderoli).
More than doubled the threshold of 500 signatures required to authorize popular consultation. The next steps are all internal to the judicial system: the green light from the Cassation is expected by December 10, after which the text will arrive in the Constitutional Court. Finally, it will be the turn of the referendum campaign and the vote, which should take place in the spring, between 15 April and 15 June.
