The definitive ok on the income meter from the Privacy Guarantor has arrived. The Authority has given the go-ahead, but has nonetheless "required the Revenue Agency to adopt a series of measures and expedients to minimize the risks to people's privacy and make the assessment tool more effective in the fight to tax evasion".

"During the complex and in-depth preliminary verification carried out by the Guarantor on the synthetic assessment system of taxpayers' income - it is explained in the note - numerous critical issues emerged, also following inspections (deriving, moreover, also from the Decree itself ministerial order for the implementation of the new income meter) which made the system non-compliant with privacy regulations"; however, “some of these critical points – explains the note – have already been resolved during the preliminary verification through the corrections made by the Revenue Agency, also on the indication of the Guarantor. Further measures to guarantee taxpayers have instead been prescribed by the Authority with today's provision”.
