Income of politicians, the ranking: Grillo is worth three times Renzi

The declarations of assets, income and electoral expenses of Italian politicians can be consulted online on the websites of the Chamber and Senate as part of the transparency operation on the basis of which the salaries of the Government and parliamentarians are published annually.

Wanting to make a ranking, many Italians might be surprised. The first position (among the members of the Executive) is in fact not occupied by Premier Matteo Renzi, as many would expect, but by the Minister of the Environment Gianluca Galletti who in 2015 declared 126 thousand euros. The one who has recorded the greatest increase is instead the leader of the Movimento 5 Stelle Beppe Grillo, whose taxable income has grown from 147 thousand euros in 2014 to 355 thousand euros in 2015 thanks also to the sale of an apartment in Lugano.

Between the presidents of the Chamber and the Senate "there is no competition". Pietro Grasso declares 352 thousand euros against the 137 thousand euros of Laura Boldrini.

Returning to the members of the Government, as previously stated, the richest is Galletti, the "poorest" Maria Elena Boschi, with a taxable income of 96 thousand euros. The Prime Minister? 107 thousand euros, just over 7 thousand euros more than the previous year, a figure that allows him to conquer the seventh place among the representatives of Palazzo Chigi. Speaking of Ministers: Marianna Madia stands at 98.471 thousand euros, Enrico Costa, new Minister of the Family, reaches 116.665, just over Angelino Alfano (116.276). 101.715 thousand euros for the Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Roberta Pinotti 99.891, the Minister of Justice Andrea Orlando 98.478. The number one of the Economy Pier Carlo Padoan declares 99.427 thousand euros, 109.216 for Federica Guidi.

On a general level, the absolute primacy in the ranking belongs to Antonio Angelucci, deputy of Forza Italia, but also an entrepreneur, patron of various private clinics and publisher of Libero, who declares 3.954.097 of taxable income, compared to over 5 million in 2014. Second place for Niccolò Ghedini, with 2.323.296.
