Recovery Plan, Renzi towards the yes but on the crisis it is pitch dark

After Mattarella's appeal to speed up the approval of the Recovery Fund, Renzi seems oriented to give the green light in tonight's CDM to the plan for the allocation of European resources for "institutional responsibility", but the developments of the crisis remain uncertain - The Will IV ministers resign or not? And Conte, in case, will he resign at the Quirinale or will he appear in Parliament?

Recovery Plan, Renzi towards the yes but on the crisis it is pitch dark

After the appeal of the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, to approve the Italian plan for the implementation of the Recovery as soon as possible, the leader of Italia Viva also seems oriented to give the green light. The test of truth will be in tonight's Council of Ministers, when Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte will put the Recovery Plan on the agenda.

However, this says nothing about the developments of the political crisis which concerns many other aspects and which does not yet exclude that Italy Viva, once the Recovery has been approved, withdraw his ministers from the government in the event that he does not deem the guarantees offered by the prime minister sufficient on other fronts and above all on the prospects for the Government's program between now and the end of the legislature.

“We – declared the Minister of Agriculture and head of delegation of Italia Viva in the Government, Teresa Bellanova – do not want to block the approval of the Recovery Plan but we have not yet read the final version of the plan on the basis of which we will orient ourselves. But, beyond the Recovery, the quality of the Government's action is essential for us ". And Renzi added: "The premier must move or we will not remain in our place in the government". In short, the situation remains very uncertain, but today could be crucial.

The points to be clarified are big:

1) after the probable approval of the Recovery Plan for reasons - says Renzi - of "institutional respect" towards the Head of State and not to delay towards Europe, will the ministers of Italia Viva, Bellanova and Bonetti resign or not?

2) What will Conte do if IV's ministers resign? Will he present himself at the Quirinale to resign in turn into the hands of the President of the Republic or will he prefer to appear in Parliament?

To date, no one knows how it will end, but what seems certain is that, beyond the approval of the Recovery, the war between Conte and Renzi is not over, because one no longer trusts the other and mending is very difficult. Also because this morning Prime Minister Conte threw more fuel on the fire by intimidating Renzi that an agreement will be made now or never and arguing that "if Renzi withdraws his ministers, he will be out of the next executive".

But even Conte doesn't know this because if there is a crisis, it will be necessary to see if Mattarella will give him his job back and above all if he will find a majority in Parliament, considering that without the votes of Italia Viva the current Executive would not have the numbers to govern at the Senate. But those of the prime minister are words that betray the nervousness and high tension of these hours. “Irresponsible – Renzi replied to Conte with reference to the dissent on the use of the health Mes and not only – it is not Italia Viva but wasting hundreds of billions of our children by making bad debt and not investing in health care”. The duel continues
