Record Facebook, 1 billion people connected in one day

One billion people in one day. It is the incredible record reached by Facebook last Monday, a milestone for the most followed social media in the world, which continues to grind success after success, not only on Wall Street, where it is now worth more than 200 billion dollars. The founder announced the achievement of the historic result Mark Zuckerberg, explaining in a post as of Aug. 24, “one in 7 people across the planet logged into Facebook to connect with family and friends.”

It is a different figure from what is provided every three months by the group when presenting the quarterly accounts: that concerns the monthly average of people who surf the social media every day. And in June Facebook has an average of 968 million users per day. While overall the site has almost 1,5 billion users who log in at least once a month. "But we had never reached the goal of one billion in a single day", exults Zuckerberg, saying he is proud of the progress made and of this unstoppable race: "This is just the beginning to connect the whole world".

And "a more open and connected world - he writes - is a better world, it leads to a stronger economy with more opportunities and a stronger society that reflects everyone's values". The announcement of the primacy of Facebook comes the day after the live deaths of the two reporters in Virginia, killed by a former colleague who filmed and posted the double murder on major social media. Thus rekindling the debate on how much Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and all the other social sites are really changing our lives and perception of reality.
