In 2015, the total collection of premiums by national insurance companies and the Italian representative offices of non-European companies amounted to 147 billion, with a growth, in homogeneous terms, of 2,5% compared to 2014. This is revealed in a notes Ania, explaining that the trend is the result of an increase in premiums in the Life sector (+4,0%) and a decrease in the Non-Life sector (-2,4%).

The incidence of total premiums (Life and Non-Life) on GDP increased slightly, going from 8,9% in 2014 to 9,0% in 2015. As regards the 2015 Non-Life premium income of domestic and non-European companies, equal to 32 billion with a decrease of 2,4% compared to 2014, the dynamics is the result of a decrease in the Motor sector, whose premiums recorded a decrease of 5,3% and, in particular, -6,5% in the Motor TPL and marine vehicles class and +2,9% in the Land vehicle hulls class.

The data, still provisional, are the result of the information collected by Ania and provided in advance by the insurance companies operating in Italy and by the representations in Italy of companies with registered offices in European and non-European countries. All 112 national companies and the 3 representations of non-European companies that accounted for premiums in 2015 took part in the survey.
