Rating, S&P promotes Italy after 15 years

For the first time in 15 years, the Standard & Poor's agency raises Italy's rating, acknowledging "improved growth prospects, supported by an increase in investments and employment growth, but also by an expansionary monetary policy" with "fewer risks" for the banking sector.

The agency raised the Italian rating from BBB/A-3 to BBB/A-2 with a stable outlook, raised its growth estimates (1,4% in 2017) and underlined that the Government should achieve the objective of a deficit at 2,11% of GDP, although he revealed that the political uncertainty linked to the elections weighs heavily.
