Rating, Fitch promotes the USA and downgrades Russia

In the period of maximum tension between the two superpowers, Fitch trusts the United States more than Russia. Indeed, the rating agency today confirmed the triple A rating for the United States, with a stable outlook, after last October the rating agency had warned of the risk of a downgrade due to the impasse of the US Congress on a plan to raise the debt ceiling.

Fitch has instead announced that it has downgraded Russia's outlook from stable to negative due to the risks for Western sanctions against Moscow. This change of perspective means that the agency could soon downgrade Moscow's rating set for the moment to "BBB", which corresponds to an issuer of medium quality, but able to adequately meet its obligations.
