Rally Piazza Affari: banks and oil companies are reborn

BUSINESS PLACE CLIMB THE ROLLER COASTER. RECORD CLOSING, COLLECTION OF BANKS

It is all too trivial to define the session experienced by the markets today as crazy. Since the middle of the night, when the Russian central bank raised the discount rate from 10,5 to 17%. At the end of a long series of fireworks (drop in the PMI in Germany followed by the sudden leap in the Zew index, US data below forecasts, a flurry of news arriving from emerging markets), the stock markets achieved a more than exceptional recovery: in Milan, after six consecutive downward sessions, the Ftse Mib index rose by 3,27% to 18.670, more than recovering the ground lost on the eve. All after having suffered robust declines up to a minimum of 17.729 points (-1,5%) alternating with upward flare-ups culminating in the final rush. The other European Stock Exchanges also advanced: Paris +2,12%, Frankfurt +2,39%, London +2,28%. Madrid rises by 1,91%.

The greatest gains concern the securities of the Automotive sector (Stoxx of the sector +1,9%) and utilities (+1,5%). The spread closes at 138, the yield of the Btp 10 at 1,88%, after having reached a maximum of 150. The US Stock Exchanges shine (Dow Jones +1,42% in the mid-afternoon, S&P +1,33%). The news coming from Moscow dominated the scene: the rate hike did not help to stop the collapse of the ruble and the extreme volatility of the Moscow Stock Exchange. In the meantime, the fall in oil continues: Brent fell to 58,9 dollars a barrel (-1,9%). In Piazza Affari In Milan oil prices rebounded: Eni +3,9%, Tenaris +4,4%, Saipem +4,8%. Finmeccanica leaps +5,9%: yesterday the Chinese consortium led by Insigma delivered the pre-Breda offer to Ubs and Mediobanca, consultants of the holding company. Ansaldo Sts rose by 2,6%. In great evidence StM +4,8% and Prysmian +3,9%.

Fiat Chrysler +1,4% after good data on car sales in November in Europe. CNH Industrial was up 5,2%. Among the banks, collected by Unicreditl +2,1% and Intesa +4,5%. MontePaschi +3,8%. Banca Popolare Emilia made a leap of 6,6%, Mediobanca +4,3%, Ubi +5,7%. Electricity and utilities stocks also rose: Enel gained 3,8%, Enel Green Power +2,9%, Snam +4,2%.

Telecom Italia closes with an increase of 0,5% after a sharp tumble (-5%) linked to the declarations of the secretary general to the Presidency of the Council, Raffaele Tiscar, interpreted as a plan to switch off the copper network: immediate denial, last twist for a session forbidden to heart patients.
