Rai, Mediaset and Angelucci's newspapers: Meloni takes it all. Tyranny of the majority and one-way TV information

The prime minister has almost all the TV information on her side and an important part of the newspapers - It happened like this even when the left governed and Rai dominated but with a fundamental difference: then Rai was counterbalanced by the Mediaset networks while now the TV information it is almost entirely one-way

Rai, Mediaset and Angelucci's newspapers: Meloni takes it all. Tyranny of the majority and one-way TV information

Thursday Antonio Angelucci, patron of the Lazio healthcare system and publisher of 3 national newspapers (The newspaper, Free rider e Il Tempo) as well as a member of the League but increasingly close to the prime minister Giorgia Meloni, he went to Palazzo Chigi to illustrate his group's new editorial programs. In practice to assure the Prime Minister that his three newspapers - two of which have just changed editor with the appointment of Mario Sechi (formerly spokesperson for Meloni at Palazzo Chigi) in the direction of Libero and that of Alessandro Salusti at the helm of Il Giornale – will be at the service of the prime minister. Everything is legitimate for a private publisher, even if he receives a lot of public contributions. But the strengthening in newspapers does not exhaust Meloni's power in publishing. The three networks Mediaset are traditionally aligned in favor of the centre-right and in this phase on the side of the prime minister, with a marked Melonian propensity of Rete 4 where the presence of Andrew Giambruno, Meloni's partner who hosts "Il Diario del giorno", without forgetting that the other two Mediaset networks, Canale 5 and Italia 1, are also pro-government. It certainly won't be bianca berlinguer to give pluralism to Biscione. As for the Rai the subdivision, already practiced in the past by the left, is now the favorite weapon of the centre-right and in particular of Meloni who has secured the direction of TG1 with Gian Marco Chiocci and which controls other key positions on state TV. All legitimate operations, mind you, but with a clear unbalancing effect in favor of the prime minister and the centre-right. It will be said: after all, Meloni is doing in Rai what the left has always done when it was in government and, if there weren't Sky and the great one Tg7 di Enrico Mentana, all TV information would be completely subordinate to Palazzo Chigi. True but with a completely different systemic effect because the control of the left over the Rai networks was balanced by that of the right over the Mediaset networks. Now the Rai and Mediaset networks are unequivocally oriented in favor of Meloni with a clear imbalance to the right of the radio and television system and one-way TV information which distorts the correct functioning of democracy. There is no one who does not see the tyranny of the majority in today's information system but Meloni, who is the real trump card, cannot help but know that too much is a bad thing and that, sooner or later, it ends up becoming a boomerang. For now Giorgia down from the tower.
