Rai: Agcom wand "Povera Patria"

Controversy around the Rai on "Povera Patria", the weekly program of information and political and economic analysis on Rai2, hosted by Annalisa Bruchi. The format ended up in the eye of the storm especially with regard to the controversial report on bank seigniorage, accused of spreading hoaxes or in any case unbiased information. The President of Agcom, Angelo Marcello Cardani, also intervened on the case, specifying that in the information programming Rai it is "necessary" to ensure the contradictory: "This is an obligation expressly referred to in the current service contract, which is also supervised by the Communications Authority, and is contained in a 2003 act of the Parliamentary Supervisory Commission and in a 2006 resolution of Agcom which implemented it for the periods prior to the electoral campaigns", said Cardani speaking at the "ConVocazione Lavoro" conference organized in Milan by the Information, Entertainment and Telecommunications Federation of the CISL.

"Agcom - added Cardani - has referred to this need several times in recent years", but the recent surveys and divisions between the Government and political forces cited in the December Agcom recommendation to broadcasters "show the absolute urgency of restoring pluralism through contradictory comparisons also between political leaders, and not only between 'area journalists', a term which should appear to us as an oxymoron”. For his part, Commissioner Antonio Nicita, who also spoke at the FISTEL CISL conference, then announced that Agcom had sent a complaint to Rai in relation to the economic information aired in the first episode of the program "Povera Patria", hoping " clarifications, in the sense of completeness and pluralism, already from the episode of Friday 1 February evening, through the involvement of qualified and well-known experts, on complex issues such as those concerning economic policy".
