Rai: the Board appoints Tarantola as president

And Tarantula it is. After the tensions and a thousand doubts that have agitated the entire parliamentary majority in recent weeks, today the new board of directors of Rai has given the official green light to the appointment of Anna Maria Tarantola – former Deputy General Manager of Bankitalia – to the presidency of Viale Mazzini. The person concerned chose not to be present at the meeting "out of respect" for the board, as reported by some sources close to her.

There were seven votes in favour. Only PDL councilor Antonio Verro abstained. At this point, the only thing missing for the conclusion of the procedure is the vote of the parliamentary supervisory commission, which must give the ok with at least two thirds of a qualified vote.

Up until the end, the investiture of the economist indicated by Premier Mario Monti remained in doubt, because four directors indicated by the Pdl challenge the powers assigned to the new president.

The PDL's stomach aches, however, are mainly linked to the unusual advance indication of the next general manager of Rai, Luigi Gubitosi (former CEO of Wind and country manager of the Bank of America for Italy), in place of Lorenza Lei.
