Rai's board of directors approved the appointments of the new directors by majority vote.
Ida Colucci will guide Tg2, Luca Mazzà will replace Bianca Berlinguer as head of Tg3. Andrea Montanari will be the new director of the Radio Journal, Nicoletta Manzione of Rai Parlamento.
Voting no, as expected: Carlo Freccero (adviser indicated by the M5S) and the two advisers close to the centre-right Arturo Diaconale and Giancarlo Mazzuca. Instead, they voted in favour: Rita Borioni, Franco Siddi, Guelfo Guelfi, Paolo Messa, the president Monica Maggioni and the adviser indicated by the Treasury Marco Fortis.
After the numerous controversies of the last few days, the changes at the top of the Rai newscasts are therefore official. Shortly before the meeting, Senator Federico Fornaro from the Pd minority attempted to postpone the vote, proposing an agenda in which he invited the general manager and the board not to proceed with the vote on the news plan before having received a statement of address from the Supervision commission. The president of the institution, Roberto Fico (M5S), intervened to avert the attempt: "As it is formulated, I cannot put it to a vote, the Supervisory Authority has no authority over the appointments".
