Rai, Giancarlo Leone leaves after 33 years

Giancarlo Leone leaves Rai, after 33 years. The director of editorial coordination of Rai television schedules, son of the former president of the Republic Giovanni Leone, announced his decision yesterday during the editorial committee of the group. Leone had joined Viale Mazzini in 1983, since then holding various high-profile positions within the company: twice deputy general manager, CEO of Rai cinema, head of entertainment and director of Raiuno.

“It's time to make other choices – said Leone -. Difficult professional challenges await me in the media sector. My future is elsewhere but my heart remains in Rai. For this reason, if needed, I will ensure maximum collaboration with the general manager for a limited period of time, for what we have built together and for the future challenges that await Rai ".

Leone's farewell was also commented on by the director general of Rai Antonio Campo Dall'Orto. “It is a real column that has been a fundamental point of reference for Rai in these thirty-three years of activity. With him I found myself in great harmony from the first moment and I have great esteem for him. This is why I asked him to continue for the time necessary to give his contribution, in other forms, to work together on some corporate and vision priorities that await us in the coming months ”.
