New and definitive no from Rai to Mediaset on the towers. Rai's board of directors, chaired by Anna Maria Tarantola, has again rejected the takeover bid advanced by Ei Towers, controlled by Mediaset, for Rai Way, the company that owns the state TV transmission towers.

Faced with the Government's desire to keep 51% of Rai Way in public hands and faced with the consequent vetoes from Consob, Ei Towers recently modified the initial offer for 66,67% of Rai Wai's share capital, settling for 40 %, partly to be purchased on the market and partly directly from Rai.

But, even in the face of the new version of the takeover bid, Rai responded spadely by explaining that "in any case it would not have adhered to any extent to the offer promoted by Ei Towers, even following the modification made, as it considers its participation strategic in Rai Way spa, as related to the satisfaction of needs of general interest" which are also based on "the permanence of the same company on the Stock Exchange and on the maintenance of a widespread shareholding".
