Raggi, requested indictment for forgery

The prosecutors of Rome have asked for the mayor of Rome, Virgina Raggi, to be indicted. The accusation hypothesis is false in a public deed and concerns the decision of the first citizen to entrust the position of head of Tourism to Renato Marra, brother of Raffaele, at the time head of the Campidoglio's personnel.

Raggi had assured that he had independently decided to promote Renato, denying to the Anti-Corruption Department of the Municipality of Rome that his brother Raffaele Marra - arrested in recent months for corruption and still on trial - had played a role. But in a conversation via chat between the two, the mayor accuses Marra of not having informed her of the salary increase that Renato would have obtained: "Raffaele, this salary thing puts me in difficulty, you had to tell me".

Another element charged to Raggi is a conversation in which Raffaele says to Renato: "The post of tourism manager has become available, ask the question". And on November 9, Renato wins that seat also thanks to the documents that Raffaele sends to Raggi illustrating the procedures to follow.

The assistant prosecutor Paolo Ielo and the substitute Francesco dall'Olio instead asked for the dismissal for the crime of abuse of office hypothesized for the promotion of Salvatore Romeo. According to the magistrates, the procedure followed by Raggi - who had guaranteed Romeo a tripling of his salary - is not correct, but it follows a practice already used by his predecessors and above all it was not put into practice with malice. For this reason, the filing was also requested for the appointments decided by Giani Alemanno and Ignazio Marino.
