Pierluigi Bersani will check tonight if the Pd can immediately spend the candidacy of Giuliano Amato for the Presidency of the Republic. It all depends on the numbers. In the afternoon, the secretary of the Pd will hear the Cavaliere again and if there is the green light he will address the parliamentary groups of the Pd in a joint meeting at 20: if he ascertains that the dissents are limited in number and that therefore the votes against or the snipers of the Pd will not exceed seventy, Bersani will immediately play the Amato card. In this case, the name of the former prime minister will be voted on as early as tomorrow with the possibility of being elected even today.
Otherwise, if the Amato track were to be obstructed by the backsliding of a part of the Democratic Party who reproached him for his socialist past, Bersani would bet on Massimo D'Alema who, like Amato, can intercept the votes of the centre-right as well as those of the Democratic Party.
Only in the event of a drastic break between Bersani and Berlusconi would the alternative hypothesis of Romano Prodi come back on track, which Beppe Grillo likes but which, exiting the scheme of broad agreements, does not gather the consent of Mario Monti's Civic Choice, much less by Silvio Berlusconi, who sees it as smoke in the eye.
So, mid-afternoon on the eve of the presidential elections, 50% chances for Amato, 40% for Amato and 10% for Prodi
