Quirinale: Renzi focuses on Mattarella, first vote today

Today at 15 will take place in the Aula della Camera la first vote to elect the new president of the Republic. The required majority is gods two-thirds of voters (as well as for the second and third rounds, which should take place tomorrow), while from the fourth vote (scheduled for Saturday) the quorum will drop to a simple majority, or 505 of the 1.009 electors.

Yesterday Prime Minister Matteo Renzi met Pier Luigi Bersani and Silvio Berlusconi, to then announce that the Democratic Party candidate (including the minority) is Sergio Mattarella, a name that Forza Italia doesn't like, however, still determined to bet on Julian Amato. Meanwhile, between the two litigants, the prices of the mayor of Turin have risen in the last few hours, Piero Fassino

Today at 13 Renzi will meet the assembly of deputies, senators and regional delegates of the Democratic Party to decide how to vote (probably the blank ballot). In the same hours, from 8 to 14, the 5 Stars will choose their candidate with the Quirinaries on Beppe Grillo's blog (10 names in the running, including Romano Prodi). It is almost certain that Forza Italia will vote blank ballot. The decisive scrutiny, therefore, should not come before Saturday.
