The tug of war between Qualcomm and Apple continues. The American microprocessor maker said it has obtained a preliminary injunction from a Chinese court preventing the tech giant from importing and selling some older iPhone models in China. The thesis is that the devices violate two Qualcomm patents. The decision, dated November 30, by the Chinese court specializing in intellectual property, It is the first in the world's largest smartphone market to limit the sale of iPhones. Qualcomm explained that the court is convinced that Apple has violated a patent related to photo editing and another with which by touching the screen of a device you can scroll from one window to another.
It does not appear that the ban imposed on Apple includes the newest iPhones - the XS, XS Max and XR models - because they were not yet on the market when the case was opened. Apple's reply was immediate: "Qualcomm's efforts to ban our products are another desperate move by a company whose illicit practices are under investigation by regulators around the world." In a note, the giant led by Tim Cook added: "all iPhone models remain available to our customers in China". Apple has vowed to pursue "All possible legal options."
