Quacquarelli-Symonds, survey reveals Alma Mater among the 200 best universities in the world

According to a survey by Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings 2012-2013 published in the Republic site, is Alma Mater, in Bologna, the best Italian university in 194th position out of 200.

For the rector of the university, Ivano Dionigi, it is "a real miracle" to be among the 200 best universities in the world. But the real problem "is that the entire Italian system is not holding up: I also told Minister Profumo, our universities are all losing positions": the Alma Mater has lost 11 positions since 2011, Sapienza has dropped from 210 to 216 , while those in Milan rose: the Polytechnic gained 33 positions (from 277 to 244) and the University moved from position 275 to position 256.

Dionigi continues: “This classification makes me doubly happy: between the Tremonti cure and the increase in freshmen, what did we want? Gain positions?” and concludes by trusting the President of the Republic Napolitano: "I trust that he will give us a hand again this year".

The first university in the world according to the ranking is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, second is the English Cambridge and third is Harvard University.
