Prysmian awarded project in Argentina for broadband

In a few months, over 4 buildings in Buenos Aires will have access to broadband. And to develop it will be Prysmian, an Italian giant in the energy and telecommunications cables and systems sector. The group obtained an order from Telecom Argentina, a subsidiary of Telecom Italia, for the supply and installation of the passive optical infrastructure for a new Fiber To The Home network.

The order - explains a note - concerns in particular the creation of a network that it will connect 4 buildings, with an initial connection percentage of just under 40%. Prysmian will collaborate with Valtellina Sud América, a company specializing in network infrastructures, which will coordinate system installation activities.

Telecom Argentina has plans to implement the broadband network throughout the city of Buenos Aires to meet the growing demand for faster connectivity services by consumers. The works will start from August and will have a duration of about two years.

For Gustavo Etchepare, CEO of Prysmian Group in Argentina, "this is an extremely important project for both Telecom Argentina and Prysmian Group". “Consumer demand for greater coverage and diffusion of broadband", said Erchepare, "it is constantly growing and the only way to satisfy it is to install the optical fiber as close as possible to the end customer".
