Prysmian has signed an agreement with the Brazilian oil company Petrobras for the design and supply of offshore oil extraction systems. The value of the contract is approximately 260 million dollars.

The contract consists of a framework agreement for the supply of 360 km of umbilicals systems of 16 different sections with related accessories, offshore services and qualifications, for a value of approximately USD 260 million with a 50% guaranteed minimum purchase commitment and orders that must be issued within two years. Most of the products in question will be used in the extraction areas known as "pre-salt".

Furthermore, also from Petrobras, the Group has acquired the extension to 2016 of the existing framework agreement for the supply of flexible pipes (flexible pipes for oil extraction) for a total of 95 million dollars and for which orders have already been issued for $20 million for the Macabu, Jubarte and Marlim Leste mining fields.

The umbilicals and flexible pipes covered by the new contracts will be produced in the Group's centers of technological excellence in Vila Velha, Brazil, a plant with high production capacity totally dedicated to the production of SURF systems (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines) and a strategic.

The Group has a technical and commercial collaboration with Petrobras that has lasted for 35 years, with Technical Cooperation Agreements and supplies of flexible pipes and umbilicals - both of the Steel Tube type and of the Composite/Thermoplastic type - for various projects.
