Civil Protection, Curcio leaves

The Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, received today from the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio, a letter in which, due to strictly personal reasons, he requests to be relieved of his current office. This can be read in a note from Palazzo Chigi.

The premier then indicated in Angelo Borrelli, Curcio's deputy, the new Head of the Civil Protection Department. "The role of Head of the Civil Protection Department is unique, necessarily absorbing and all-encompassing for those who hold it, given all the risks present on the Italian territory and the complex but amazing System of components and operational structures that revolves around the Department itself". Fabrizio Curcio writes it in the letter to Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni in which he announces his resignation. “All energies must be dedicated to carrying out this function in the best possible way without interruption, day and night, 24 hours a day as we say in the jargon. Unfortunately, for strictly personal reasons, at this moment I am no longer able to guarantee one hundred percent of my concentration and my commitment to continue in this role”, explains Curcio.

Gentiloni, thank you Curcio for your dedication – Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni thanked Curcio very much for the work he has done over the years, “with extraordinary dedication, passion, energy and expertise”. This is learned from a note from Palazzo Chigi, after the resignation of the head of civil protection. The premier then addresses the new head of the department, Angelo Borrelli, his best wishes for a good job for the challenges and responsibilities that await him.
