The InvestEu Program is increasingly a pillar of the Next Generation Eu. Italy believes it and its SMEs will invest in key sectors

InvestEu programme: €264 million for circular economy and digitalisation of SMEs

For now, there are four circular economy operations in the programme Invest EU in favor of Italian realities. The resources available and approved these days amount to 264 million euros which must favor theinnovation, research e possibly new jobs. Of this sum, 45 million euros will be disbursed by European Bank of Investments to Società Acque Bresciane to improve the aqueduct system and the management of wastewater throughout the Province of Brescia. The European Investment Fund (EIF), on the other hand, will grant 100 million euros to Intesa Sanpaolo to support the investments and needs of SME liquidity. THE SMEs who access the funds must have defined projects and demonstrate good evidence of investing in the digital and ecological transition. Still another 30 million euros will be granted to the company Xenon FIDEC to make investments in the green economy profitable. In the end, 84 million euros will go from the EIF to Mediocredito Trentino-Alto Adige SpA to help, also in this case, the small industrialists of the North East.

Confidence in Italy also demonstrated by an agreement with CDP

the programme Invest EU is one of the most representative of the Next Generation Eu, a financial casket that he has already fielded in the various Countries 500 billion euros. Investments favor new infrastructures, research, technological innovation, digitization, growth of skills. Among the most active parties participating in the program is the EIB which has been guaranteeing the availability of money for a year.

The world of small and medium-sized industries is privileged by the programme. For small entrepreneurs access to credit it is often complicated and when it is obtained it is not always used to activate circular economy processes. Sometimes investments in new machinery or expansions of production sites are preferred. In any case, Italy is showing great interest in the program which will continue until 2026.

A few days ago the CDP Group signed a agreement guarantee for 260 million euros with the European Commission, precisely in the context of the InvestEU Programme. For the four operations launched in these days Jasmine Vigliotti, EIB vice president says that it is right to support the water sector (as in Brescia), promote the circular economy and invest in small businesses. Affected first by the pandemic and now by the war in Ukraine, these Italian companies are "active in key sectors such as sustainability, innovation and culture, they are all strategic priorities of the InvestEU program to relaunch the European economy". The four operations of these days will certainly be followed by others.
