Art Bonus project of the year: the winners of the 5th edition

The winner of the 5th edition of the "Art Bonus Project of the Year" is the Municipality of Perugia, with the restoration of the Fonte di San Francesco in Ponte San Giovanni. Of the projects that took part in the competition – organized by Ales Spa in collaboration with Promo PA Fondazione LuBeC, Lucca Beni Culturali – 50% concerned restoration work, 20% support for museums, archives and libraries and the remainder 30% support for entertainment activities (music, dance, theatre).

“The Art Bonus – declared Minister Franceschini – is the strongest tax incentive that there is in Europe to encourage cultural patronage and, since the date of its entry into force, has exceeded half a billion euros in funds raised".

In addition to Minister Franceschini, the President of Ales, Mario De Simoni, took part in the proclamation of the winners; the Director of Art Bonus for Ales SpA, Carolina Botti; the Director of Lubec, Francesca Velani and the Mayor of Perugia, Andrea Romizi, who declared: “The most beautiful thing about this Art Bonus initiative is that we have reached citizenship. Having involved both important economic realities and a significant part of our population who wanted to make a contribution, be there and participate. The Art Bonus was a tool to ask everyone to take back the city's history, the neighborhoods and also a memory that is important for facing the many challenges that await us all”, concluded the Mayor of the Umbrian capital.
The donations received fully covered the cost for the extraordinary maintenance and restoration of the Fountain, amounting to 18.000 euros. This project got 2.314 votes on the platform www.concorsoartbonus.it  thanks to an important communication campaign carried out by the Municipality of Perugia entitled #FannepArte. The Fonte di San Francesco takes its name from the Patron Saint of Italy who in 1202 it is said he stopped at the source to quench his thirst and wash his wounds before being taken in chains to the prison of Perugia, after the battle of Collestrada. To support the winning project as patrons: the Pro Ponte Association, the Revisions Consortium, Oleodinamica Palmerini and Cristina Dragoni.
