According to Eurostat data, industrial production decreased by 0,1% in the European Union and in the Eurozone in November – Germany also stops (-1%) – Ireland collapses (-9,4%)

Industrial production down throughout Europe in November

Throughout Europe industrial production continues to struggle: once again in November 2011 the sector recorded a drop of 0,1% compared to the previous month both in the European Union area and in the Eurozone. This was noted by Eurostat in the bulletin released today. The European Institute of Statistics underlines how already in October 2011 industrial production had recorded a contraction of 0,3% in the Europe of 17 and 27, to which is added the further negative sign in November.

In the month being analysed, non-durable consumer goods drove the sector towards the minus sign, with a contraction of 0,8% in the Euro area and 0,6% in the EU. Non the Europe of 17 it is -0,8% also for durable consumer goods, which however record a +0,1% in the Europe of 27 again compared to the previous month. The production of capital goods was stable in both areas (change of 0 compared to October), while double speed was recorded on the energy front: production increase in the Eurozone (+0,5%), general contraction in the EU ( -0,2%).

At the country system level, in November 2011 there was a sharp contraction in the industrial production of theIreland (-9,4%), and falls of Sweden (-3%), Slovenia (-2,4%) And Malta (-2,2%). It also stops there Germany (-1% in November) after the positive balance of the previous month (in October it had in fact recorded a +0,8% compared to September 2011). In November, however, industrial production increased by Poland (+ 1,6%), Norway (+ 1,2%), France and Greece (+1,1% for both countries). Timid signs of recovery – in the sector – for l'Italy, which recorded a +0,3% compared to October 2011.
