Production, conservation and transmission of 900th century Italian art in live streaming

Intesa Sanpaolo, in collaboration with the "La Venaria Reale" Conservation and Restoration Center Foundation (CCR) and the Italian Group of the International Institute of Conservation (IGIIC), organizes within the framework of Artissima Friday 20 November the fourth edition of the Conference on the conservation of contemporary art entitled "Energy lines. Production, conservation and transmission of 900th century Italian art.”

The initiative, in digital form in live streaming on the Zoom platform from 10, proposes a reflection on the contexts of artistic production in the second half of the twentieth century in relation to the current ones conservation and presentation strategies of the works of art on the occasion of the publication of the proceedings of the first three editions of the conference. Plastic, organic materials and natural rather than technical and visual elements, such as photography and video: not all art is made to last, especially contemporary art. A theme known to collectors, but also a field of study and discussion between restorers and experts.

Following the system that characterized the previous appointments (Beyond the picture. Forms and experiments of the Sixties, 2017; Beyond the museum. The radicalization of artistic research in the XNUMXs, 2018; The eighties, towards other horizons, 2019), the meeting takes shape from the confrontation between artists, art historians and critics, curators of museums and institutions, conservators and restorers. The presence of different perspectives has the purpose of fueling an exchange of visions on the meaning of the work, its historical dimension and, more generally, on the possibilities of survival and transmission of its elements, both material and immaterial. Within the framework of Artissima, in contact with the living body of contemporary production and its protagonists, the meeting, in addition to being aimed at the presentation of the three volumes that collect the interventions of past appointments, published by Kermes, will prompt guests to reflect on the way which the current artistic production proposes a dialogue between “consummation"And "storage" of the cultural, technical and visual characteristics of the work, from a theoretical and concrete point of view.

The initiative is fully part of Intesa Sanpaolo's vast commitment to safeguarding the artistic heritage. In particular, the Group is committed to safeguarding and digitizing the heritage of 7 million photos in the Publifoto Intesa Sanpaolo Archive - part of which is now on display in the Folle exhibition at Artissima -, in the conservation of the owned collections and in the project 'Refunds', the works of art restoration program promoted and managed by Intesa Sanpaolo since 1989 in collaboration with the ministerial bodies in charge of their protection, with over 1500 restored works belonging to museums, archaeological sites and churches throughout Italy.
