At the end of his indictment today, prosecutor Fabio De Pasquale has asked the Milan court to sentence Silvio Berlusconi to five years' imprisonment for corruption in judicial acts. In fact, Berlusconi allegedly bribed British lawyer David Mills with "at least 600 dollars in exchange for reticent testimony in two previous proceedings".
It remains to be seen whether the trial can reach a sentence, because there is a risk that it will be interrupted due to the statute of limitations of the crime, even if the public prosecutor has declared himself confident in the subject, reiterating that the prescription must be calculated from February 2000, removing the suspensions due to the law on the legitimate impediment then canceled by the Consulta and stating that "today it is not moral to expand the 'favor' of the prescription, it has no moral justification in developed countries" and that therefore, the offense will be prescribed between May and July 2012, contrary to what is claimed by the defense.
