Privatizations: CDP towards 51% of Enav

The operation, to be completed within the year, would bring about 1,1 billion to the Treasury - the MEF is also evaluating small interventions on real estate assets

By the end of the year, a new chapter of privatizations could be staged with the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as the protagonist. As already revealed by the update to the Def, however, the operation will be smaller than expected: no longer 0,5, but 0,2% of GDP. Just over three billion, but it is an excess forecast. The Treasury's goal is not so much to reduce the debt stock, but to cut interest spending, in order to obtain benefits on the deficit front.

As Il Sole 24 Ore writes, the CDP - which does not fall within the perimeter of the PA - could acquire control of Enav from the Minister of Economy, the company of controllers listed since July 2016. The sale of the 51% held by the MEF would lead to public coffers around 1,1 billion.

The Treasury is also evaluating small interventions on the real estate assets that would lead to reduced receipts. Nothing to be done instead for a new intervention on the capital of the Post Office, at least for this year.
