In 2011 the value of private equity deals increased but the number of transactions decreased. This is the balance sheet for the industry in Italy for the past year which emerges from the first analyzes of Laboratory on Private Equity & Lbo of Sda Bocconi. In detail, private equity has completed 66 operations for a value of 8,443 billion euros (the data are not yet definitive, some operations are still missing).

Il the value is thus up by 55% on the 2010 data (the data concerns the enterprise value in buyout, buy-in and secondary buyout operations, the invested equity is included in the other types) while at the level of operations in 2010 instead 78 deals were registered. AND increased the number of holdings in the portfolio to 806 from 773 in 2010. As well as the percentage of equity investments held in the portfolio for over four years, up to 51,9% from 44,1% in 2010, and the average duration of the way-out up to 4,7 years from 4,4 in 6 last year. The Ebitda multiple of operations is between 7-6,9 times, in line with XNUMX of the previous year, even if not yet fully representative.
