First exit polls: Raggi in the lead in Rome, Appendino in Turin, Sala in Milan

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS – According to the first exit polls, the grilline Raggi and Appendino are in the lead in Rome and Turin, Sala in Milan, Merola in Bologna and De Magistris in Naples

First exit polls: Raggi in the lead in Rome, Appendino in Turin, Sala in Milan

According to the first exit polls, the 5 Star Movement would triumph in Rome, where Raggi would double Giachetti, and also in Turin, where Appendino would surprisingly prevail over Fassino (Pd). In Milan, however, Renziano Beppe Sala would win over Stefano Parisi of the center-right. On the other hand, the affirmations of Merola (Pd) in Bologna on the Northern League's Bergonzoni and De Magistris in Naples on Lettieri of the centre-right seem obvious.

Basically, the center-left would defend the square in Milan, on which Renzi was aiming by nominating the former Expo commissioner Beppe Sala and would win in Bologna with the outgoing mayor Merola but would face a clear setback in Rome, where the grillini would conquer a large administrations such as that of the Capital, and also in Turin, if indeed the Appendino grillina will overturn the forecasts, as it seems from the first exit polls, by defeating the outgoing mayor of the Pd Fassino.

The Government and Renzi will not resign but will certainly emerge bruised from the electoral consultation while the 5 Star Movement would be the real winner of these elections and will now have to demonstrate its ability to govern cities of political importance such as Rome and Turin.
